AlphaStorm and I have been working on this track since shortly after Avicii's passing in 2018.

I said a lot of dumb things early on in the song's production. Some hard cope thoughts like - We knew this was coming - We didn't - I didn't - I knew he had some severe health issues and somehow initially missed that his passing was self-inflicted rather than complications from his existing health issues. I don't know how I missed that for a while, but I did. Tim's death caught me completely off-guard in a number of ways.

It had never dawned on me exactly how much his music and presence in the industry had impacted me until he was gone. I never even considered myself a fan per-se and I wasn't a part of his community. However, his sound + energy had crept its way into my creative DNA over time without ever having been invited. I found myself having one of those cries where you weren't expecting to cry let alone to the point of full-on sobbing. I spent time reflecting to try and figure out why and realized that he was doing something I always gravitate towards in artists, innovating. In reality there are so few who both create for the love of creating and also have a passion for exploring and breaking the boundaries of what we know in sound.

When we began the project together we didn't want to do a cover, but rather an original track that captures the spirit of his work + the energy of the messages he shared through something of our own. While we definitely have our own definitive sounds in our own work his influence is felt.

Since that time we encountered a lot of shortcomings in our journeys as artists. We determined several times that we just didn't have the skill to do the work justice.

However, 2023 was a very different year. We had both studied, grown, and come into our own as professional artists. It was time to finish the project + so we did with the help, love, and support of our friends and mentors.

Also, in this time we have seen SO many posts from Avicii fans expressing the question "Imagine what Avicii's work would sound like today." I wouldn't dare say that this is it.. because we are definitely not Tim. However, his influence lives on, + it is our hope that this track reaches those fans to let them know that he lives on in the sound, lyrics, + hearts of those who loved him + his work.

This is our way of saying thank you to Avicii + his community + all of those who have encouraged and inspired us along the way.
